At the weight lifting work shop we will spend time learning how to properly warm up and mobilize the body, then we will focus on learning and developing the controlled yet explosive motor patterns that make up the two Olympic Lifts; these lifts are better known as: the Snatch and the Clean and Jerk! We will also learn to safely and effectively perform the auxiliary lifts, such as the dead lift, the squat, and the split jerk, which complement the two powerful Olympic movements.
So what is Olympic Lifting and why is it the most effective way to improve both strength and endurance?
Good questions and I'm glad you asked. Olympic Lifting is defined as "SAFELY and efficiently taking weight from the ground to over head" and its efficiency comes from what it takes to make task happen. When properly performed a single reputation of the clean and jerk or the snatch, up to 95% of your body's muscle fibers will be recruited from which means 95% of your muscle fiber is being challenged to improve!!... Now compare that to the measly 4% that is recruited in a single bicep curl and you are left wondering why have I not been doing this sooner?!
