Do you or have you ever had a Nickname?

My nickname is Dre. No relation to the doctor.

Who are you, and why are you in Nashville?

I was born and raised in South Florida with my parents and two sisters. Growing up I was always outside playing sports and always looking for something new to challenge myself. I moved to Tennessee in 2007 to attend the University of Tennessee at Martin on a full basketball scholarship. After graduating with my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management with a minor in Marketing, I pursued and completed my Master’s of Business Administration. During my time as a student I met my better half, Abbie, who was born and raised in Tennessee. We got married in 2013 and moved to Florida, where most recently, I worked as the GM at the Ultimate Sports Institute. My wife and I decided to move back to Tennessee with this great opportunity in Climb Murfreesboro, and we are excited to settle down in Tennessee where we have been wanting to be.

Why do you Climb or How has climbing changed your life?

Climbing has changed my life in an awesome and unexpected way. Playing sports my whole life and coaching as well, I have never felt the rush and sense of achievement that I  feel when I get on a wall. Climbing has given me a new outlet to be able to clear my mind of any stress, and just enjoy figuring out the route in front of me. The climbing community that I have been exposed to at Climb has been a very welcoming and motivating one, that is very hard to find anywhere else.

Do you have a favorite Route Outside?

For me one of my biggest climbing goals is to go back to my parents home country in South America, Bolivia, and climb all the beautiful trad routes that they offer.

What’s Rad about your life right now, on or off the wall?

On the wall, I am just enjoying pushing myself everyday on all the different routes the Climb has to offer. Its great having the opportunity to climb with and around all the great climbers in our gym, it makes every day exciting and very motivating.

Off the wall, this new opportunity with Climb Murfreesboro has brought a great excitement to my life. My wife and I are very excited to be able finally come back to Tennessee where we met. We are looking forward to finding our home in the Murfreesboro area, and even more excited for what our future hold for us here in Tennessee.
