Last weekend we joined the Access Fund down at Foster Falls for a day of work on the trail! Our very own AMGA certified instructor, Benji took out ten climbers to join up with Kate and Chris from the Access Fund's Conservation Team to spend half the day hauling rocks and the rest climbing them.
"Saturday was awesome! It was great to interact with a group of relatively young climbers and plant the seeds of crag ethics and stewardship. We brushed in a bunch of eroded areas and social trails, revamped a handful of wood and stone steps, and cleaned up the trail through Right Bunker." - Chris from the Access Fund.
After a hard days work, Benji set up some ropes at Gutbuster and Rocket Slab in the afternoon. The climber's got to finally enjoy the crag they were there to take care of.
"We think this was a great model for engagement - it's great to help climbers transition outdoors in a responsible way, the incentive of some guided climbing time is huge, and the crag gets some much needed love! We're looking forward to exploring this more next year, pairing stewardship with clinics to strengthen the climbing scene as a whole." - Kate from the Access Fund.
