Meet our Setters!

Alexis Nowling

High quality route setting is an integral part of what makes a climbing gym excellent. You can have the best facility in the world, but without a team of dedicated, experienced, passionate setters, a gym will struggle to survive. At Climb Nashville, we are proud to have a team of setters that truly love what they do, and they see every day of setting as an opportunity to get creative, have some fun, and create routes that push our climbers to be the best they can be. Read on to learn a little bit about who our setters are, what makes them tick!

Having been raised a musician and working in the music industry all of my adult life, just a few years ago I'd never guess I'd be working part time at a climbing gym. In the past year that I've been setting with Climb Nashville I have thoroughly enjoyed the learning experiences that have come with the job. Setting for the gym has allowed me to better understand my own strengths and weaknesses as a climber, and has given me greater appreciation for others success on the rock. My main goal as a climber is to be able to travel to any climbing destination in the world and hold my own on the rock regardless of the grade. I would like the ability to scale the blankest slab, the biggest steepest roof and everything in between.

When I'm not climbing I like to practice my instrument, work in the garden, and cook.

All my life I have lived in the south. When I started climbing I was surrounded by some of the best people I have ever met. This made climbing go from something to do for fun, to a community I was invested in. My only aspiration in climbing is to be strong enough to do the pretty ones. Basically, "THE SOUTH IS DOPE, AND I WANT TO FIRE OFF RIGS WITH THE HOMIES!"
