Scout Troops

Climb Nashville can help your Boy Scouts complete the Climbing Merit Badge in a number of ways, depending on your experience level, your budget, and the time you have to spend here.

First Option

First of all, we can lead a session in which the boys will have the opportunity to complete all of the requirements except First Aid and CPR (reqs. 1 and 2). That is $50.00 per Scout, and it takes approximately 4-5 hours. We do the instructing with assistance from certified leaders of your group. Group size 4 to 10.

Second Option

The second option is for us to supply the facility and initial instruction (belaying), and you and your leaders that are BSA certified climbing instructors can provide the additional instruction and teaching necessary to complete the badge requirements, with our staff on hand to maintain compliance with gym rules & regulations. We’ll set up a rappel rope for you to use if requested. The cost is $25.00 per climber, and you have the rappel ledge and mezzanine (instruction area for knots/theory, etc.) for up to 3 hours. So beyond the initial belay lesson, we leave it up to you to teach your Scouts- as long as you are certified by the BSA to teach the Climbing Merit Badge and authorized by Climb Nashville.

Third Option

The third option is to simply come in and climb as a regular group and in the process complete the climbing and belaying requirements (reqs. 8, 9, &10). The regular group rate is $175 for up to 10 climbers and $15 for each additional climber. This option is for a 2 hour session that includes harnesses, belay lesson/orientation and climbing.

Special Requirements

Our belay age requirement is 14 or older- if you have Scouts 13 and younger that need to belay to complete the merit badge, they may belay 6 times (to meet requirement #9) under close supervision and backup belay by a leader.
